I am pleased to announce the creation of Carolina Memorial Sanctuary (CMS), the first conservation burial ground in North Carolina. This concept was introduced to us 18 years ago. Since that time, we have held this vision while focusing on service to our community through the Center for End of Life Transitions, offering education, support and assistance in preparation for death.
In December 2015, Unity of the Blue Ridge sold to Anattasati Magga (a Buddhist Sangha in Asheville, NC, of which I am a member) the southern 11+ acres of their property in Mills River, NC, for the sole purpose of the establishment of a conservation burial ground – Carolina Memorial Sanctuary.
CMS will operate as a project of Anattasati Magga (a 501c3 church), open to the public as an all-faiths burial ground. CMS was made possible by two faiths, two open minded communities, coming together as neighbors.
Those of us who love western North Carolina are drawn to its beauty and our desire to live symbiotically within its elements.
CMS will support those who are environmentally conscious in life with the opportunity to uphold their values in death and ensure that their future generations will have access to the same.
Your participation in this project will reverberate far beyond your life.
